Senior checklist 2023-2024!

 
 

September - November

   NOT required for admissions! SAT www.collegeboard.org and ACT- www.act.org

If you take it, send your score reports when you register. The December test is the last one universities will accept.

   Explore college and career options through Naviance.

   Apply to UC’s- www.universityofcalifornia.edu . -August 1- November 30, 2023

   Apply to CSU’s- https://www.calstate.edu/apply -October 1-November 30, 2023.

   Apply to private universities-  www.commonapp.org.  Deadline varies- Nov.-January. Check with the university.

   Apply for financial aid- www.fafsa.gov OR https://dream.csac.ca.gov/ (if undocumented)-December 2023-April 2, 2024. Will need  parents’ 2022 tax information, if they filed. For maximum financial aid, submit it as soon as possible.  Create a webgrants account--3 days after you submit your financial aid application. htttps://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/

   If you are applying to private universities, you must submit the CSS Profile- https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/ - October 1,2023-February15, 2024. Check deadline with your university.

   Apply to scholarships. Deadlines vary…September 2023- June 2024. Check College Ctr’s website.

   Submit a copy of your UC application for review  to Mrs. Corona by October 20, 2023.

   Submit a copy of your CSU application for review to Mrs. Corona by October 27, 2023.

   Apply to community college- www.cccapply.org -November 2023--August 2024-the sooner, the better.

 December

   Create university portals (webpage) accounts. Please note: Make sure to login to your email/university portal accounts regularly to check if you need to submit any transcripts/documents.  Deadlines vary by University.

   Make sure SAT & ACT scores have been sent to universities. Scores NOT required for admissions.

January - February

   SENIOR Financial Aid DAY- January 2024.

   Notify universities of any class schedule changes or low grades from Fall semester.

   Apply to community college- www.cccapply.orgJanuary-August 2024-the sooner, the better.

March – April

     March 15, 2024- Deadline to submit FAFSA/CADAA
   Receive notification of admissions from CSU’s, UC’s and many privates.

 

   Check your Cal Grant Status: Create an account at  https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/

   Review financial aid award letters from the schools that admitted you. It will inform students about the cost of attendance, scholarships, grants, and loans, work study.

May

   MAY 1, 2024- Accept admissions to the university/college of your choice. Submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) for Fall 2024 with required deposit, unless it is waived.

   Sign up for Orientation and/or Summer Program.

   Complete housing application.

   Accept or decline your financial aid award on your university portal account.

   Confirm your school of attendance for 2024 at  https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/

 

June

   Confirm your high school graduation at  https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/

July

   July 1 (UC’s), July 15 (CSU’s) FINAL Official Transcripts should be submitted to your selected campus.

 

REMEMBER: SENIOR GRADES STILL COUNT! 

Campuses could retract admissions if you receive any

D’s or F’s during senior year.

  • Need to explore colleges? Access their website, sign up for presentations, visit universities during open house, attend college fairs, and use naviance.
  • Need help applying to colleges, financial aid, scholarships, etc.? Come to the college center between 8:00 am-3:45 pm- during lunch or any class with a pass from your teacher.
  • Need money for college? Complete the financial aid application starting on October 1 and apply for scholarships. Check the college center’s website for a list.
  • When applying to a university, keep your options open.
      DO NOT submit your college application until Mrs. Corona checks it, see           deadlines.
  • If you are eligible for UC’s & CSU’s application fee waiver, you will be allowed to apply to 4 UC’s and 4 CSU’s  without having to pay for them. It will be determined based on your ESTIMATED household income & household members.
  • Important: challenging classes, involvement, good grades, test scores still count this year!!
  • DO NOT MISS ANY DEADLINES OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
  • CHECK YOUR EMAILS & PORTALS REGULARLY OR YOU WILL ALSO REGRET IT!
